The Specialist Process Engineer joins the Engineering Excellence team at AtkinsRéalis, reporting to the Department Manager of Process Systems. This role oversees the preparation and review of process systems design for CANDU Nuclear Steam Plants, managing the design process from concept through detailed design.
Key responsibilities include leading technical activities, providing design solutions, and addressing critical design challenges for new, updated, or modified NSP process systems, structures, and components. The engineer prepares and reviews design documentation such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials, performs thermal‑hydraulic evaluations, and ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards. Additional duties involve mentoring staff, delivering training, supporting engineering management with project updates, interfacing with stakeholders, and conducting site walkdowns and meetings.
Candidates must hold an accredited Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering degree and be a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. A minimum of 20 years of experience, including 10 years leading CANDU process‑system design teams, is required, together with expertise in heat‑balance and thermal‑hydraulic analysis, nuclear codes (e.g., CSA N285.0, ASME Section III), and analytical tools such as ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, or CATHENA. Strong communication and technical writing skills are essential.
AtkinsRéalis offers competitive compensation, a range of flexible benefits tailored to health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle needs, and generous time‑off policies. Employees benefit from diverse training and professional development opportunities, a hybrid working culture, and recognition programs that support a balanced career and personal life.
