Description

The Janitor is responsible for keeping workplaces clean, organized, and disinfected. Core duties include cleaning interior surfaces such as floors, carpets, windows, and walls; vacuuming, sweeping and mopping all areas; dusting furniture and fixtures; emptying and sanitizing trash containers; disinfecting high‑touch items; maintaining restrooms and replenishing supplies; and removing trash or snow from sidewalks as needed. The role also requires tracking completed tasks, maintaining supply inventories, and reporting unsafe conditions.

• Clean interior surfaces (floors, carpets, windows, walls) and remove stains.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop all work areas, including offices, hallways, lobbies, elevators, stairs, and locker rooms.
• Dust furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings.
• Empty and sanitize trash cans, ashtrays, and dispose of waste and recycling.
• Disinfect high‑touch items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
• Clean and restock restrooms; wash mirrors and windows.
• Remove trash and snow from sidewalks when required.
• Track cleaning tasks on a chart and notify supervisors of unsafe conditions.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replacements as needed.
• Follow safety procedures, lift up to 50 lb, and close doors at the end of the night shift.

Requirements

Employees work in environments that may involve moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and potential electrical hazards, with a generally moderate noise level.
