We address over 39,000 customer enquiries every month, plan and deliver all maintenance activities on the network, drive efficiencies and improvements across our systems and roads, and respond to incidents across 4,500 miles of motorways and major A-roads that we manage. Here at National Highways, we currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Team Manager to join the Southeast region Operations team. Within this role, you will be managing the integration of Major Projects and Third-party schemes into Operations, ensuring effective liaison between stakeholders and managing timely completion of Operations' inputs and approvals, as well as effective planning of business readiness activities within Operations.
- Coordinate and ensure good flow of communications between all relevant stakeholders so that any changes to project scope, timescales, requirements or specifications can be assessed and relevant plans can be adjusted to minimise risks and knock on impacts.
- Work with internal Operations colleagues (Engineering teams, Service Delivery teams etc.) to understand the implications of new assets entry into service and ensure that appropriate business readiness activities are planned and implemented in time to ensure robust handover of new assets and ultimately, that project benefits can be achieved.
- Proactively manage and coordinate the escalation of major risks and issues with regional stakeholders (i.e. Regional Director, Route Sponsors, etc.), ensuring implications are understood and mitigating actions can be agreed in a timely manner.
- Become an integral team member ensuring Operations related inputs, decisions and approvals are planned, coordinated and delivered in a timely and consistent manner.
- Ensuring the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
- Promote and focus the needs and interests of Operations and regional customers on major projects, influencing and advising on any relevant project decisions, risks and issues.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.
- Demonstrable experience of managing the development of project plans and detailed stage plans in conjunction with delivery partners.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant technical standards, asset policies, asset operation and maintenance requirements.
- Preferably with Highways management experience together with a Degree in Engineering and/or technical qualifications/accreditations.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Evidence of managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
