The Continuous Improvement Engineer drives operational excellence across Pratt Miller’s manufacturing operations by optimizing processes, systems, and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and compliance. The role evaluates and enhances the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and its integration with ERP and PLM platforms, ensuring accurate capture, tracking, and reporting of production data, material usage, and labor costs in line with program and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include leading system and process improvement initiatives, designing future‑state lean workflows, and partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, and IT to standardize processes and maintain data integrity. The engineer conducts Kaizen events, root‑cause analyses, and Lean/Six Sigma projects, develops standardized work and visual management systems, optimizes material flow and equipment utilization, and creates performance dashboards. They also support ISO and internal audits, participate in supplier audits, coach team members in Lean tools, manage multiple continuous improvement projects, and present data‑driven findings to leadership.
The role involves both office and shop‑floor work, occasional lifting up to 25 lb, and core hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with an average of 45 hours per week, plus additional time as needed for project launches. Travel may be required for training, supplier visits, or off‑site improvement events.
The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance for DoD programs, as well as familiarity with defense manufacturing requirements such as configuration control, traceability, and data security. Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL) and knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR/EAR standards are essential, alongside strong analytical, documentation, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Systems, or a related field and have at least five years of experience in manufacturing process improvement, operations excellence, or systems integration. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma expertise (Green or Black Belt preferred) and hands‑on experience with MES, ERP (e.g., Sage, SAP), and PLM (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter) systems are required, as is a proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects from assessment through implementation.
Desired specialized skills include a track record of leading Lean or Six Sigma initiatives in a production environment, designing closed‑loop feedback systems that connect MES data with PLM change control and ERP financials, and knowledge of digital manufacturing transformation, system integration, and data governance.
The salary range for this position is $92,600 – $154,400, determined by experience, education, and skill set. Pratt Miller offers a competitive total rewards package, a people‑first culture, and accommodations for applicants with disabilities. Oshkosh Corporation is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to diversity, pay transparency, and compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations.
