  • Assist on current environmental permitting and compliance projects
  • Perform water quality sampling, vegetation mapping, brownfield fieldwork
  • Document research and field investigations, including surveying and data recovery
  • Support for field leads, field deployments, field inspections, etc.
  • Assist with wetland delineations, wildlife and plant surveys, and other biological fieldwork

  • Collaborative, organized, self-motivated, detail orientated person
  • Excellent data collection, technical writing and communication skills
  • Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, Mathcad, ESRI, Hydro Cad, Water Cad, ArcView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Familiarity with Fulcrum, Field maps, etc. is preferred but not required
  • Prior involvement in activities demonstrating physical activity or teamwork, such as sports, hiking, or other activities around environmental stewardship, fieldwork internships, drama/theater, travel clubs, or other team-based experiences are preferred but not required
  • Approximately 75% of work will be conducted in the field, requiring extended time away from home. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel and working long days in hot conditions. The remaining portion of work will be hybrid, with an expectation of at least two days per week in the office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google Earth
  • Juniors or seniors pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Biology (with terrestrial animal focus), Botany, Forest Stewardship, Rangeland Ecology, Biology (with birds/raptors focus), Wildlife Ecology, Conservation Biology, or related field
  • Applicants for this intern role must possess a clean driving record.
  • Physically capable of working 10-12-hour days in high heat conditions, six days a week. Fieldwork is paramount. Must be self-motivated, dependable, and able to follow direction effectively
  • The candidate should have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Comfort in the outdoors and ability to maintain a positive attitude during year-round field work in a variety of weather conditions
  • The successful candidate will also be able to perform well with minimal supervision and have familiarity with GPS and GIS technologies
