Electrical Engineering Intern, Battery Storage

Description

• Support construction document production for commercial and utility‑scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, and surveying engineers on design teams
• Use AutoCAD to create construction documents and perform quantity takeoffs, including site layouts, wiring plans, one‑lines, and equipment schedules
• Create wiring and cable schedules based on takeoffs and senior designer input
• Maintain awareness of Westwood design and CAD standards

Requirements

Westwood Professional Services is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join its Energy Storage team at the start of Summer 2026. The role offers either a summer internship or a full‑time co‑op semester, both eligible for college credit where applicable. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in renewable energy design within a supportive, collaborative environment.

• Pursuing a degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Design, or a related field
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Professional appearance with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
• Self‑motivated and able to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software (preferred)
• Experience or exposure to ArcGIS (preferred)
• Experience or exposure to ETAP, CYME, Power Factory, or similar power system modeling tools (preferred)
• Experience or exposure to PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, or other PV production modeling software (preferred)
• Experience or exposure to Helios 3D or SunDAT (preferred)
• Experience or exposure to Homer Pro/Grid or similar microgrid analysis software (preferred)

Benefits

• Compensation range: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour
