Chief Engineer

Description

• Ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies, prepare purchase orders, and develop material sources
• Identify safety hazards and implement remediation to ensure safe working environment for staff and occupants
• Review operational logs to ensure proper equipment function and report problems/malfunctions as needed
• Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment
• Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training and development
• Oversee contractor activities within the building and ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines
• Maintain infrastructure and compliance documentation including building drawings and regulatory records
• Oversee repair and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems and determine maintenance frequencies
• Provide training and support to expand operations staff capabilities and ensure proper use of tools and procedures

Requirements

• Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent
• Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems
• Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and construction planning
• 7+ years facility-related work experience including customer service, leadership and supervisory experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
• Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or within 90 days of employment)
• Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
• Associate Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
• Managerial experience required
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
