Auckland Council governs and manages Auckland's local services, facilities, and community needs.
The role focuses on reducing household carbon emissions and increasing climate resilience by managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. It supports an engaged and passionate team working towards the goals of Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland's Climate Plan.
As a Senior Community Climate Action Advisor in the Climate Action Solutions team, you will support the team manager and deliver a range of services, projects, and pilots. You will work across multiple projects and deadlines, providing high‑quality technical expertise, while collaborating with community and council stakeholders.
Applications close on Sunday 25 January 2026. The Council conducts qualification and other pre‑employment checks, contributes to Kiwisaver, and promotes equal opportunity employment, encouraging applicants with support or access needs to request assistance.
The position does not require a climate science background, but experience in managing projects that raise awareness of environmental or social issues, or programmes that influence behaviour, is essential. An understanding of behaviour‑change science, communications or marketing, carbon emissions, and community partnership models is required, together with a willingness to learn Te Ao Māori and tikanga.
Auckland Council offers a professional, passionate team where flexible working and a positive work ethic are valued. Employees enjoy a supportive environment, a range of benefits including discounted Leisure Centre membership and other partnership discounts, and are part of an organisation committed to diversity, inclusion and making a positive impact on the city.
