Perform routine inspections of site facilities.
Inspect plant systems to ensure that they are safe for operating personnel.
Technical Expertise: Maintains cutting edge awareness of latest development in a specific field by scanning multiple sources of information or data (e.g. periodicals, networks of contacts.)
Participate in plant process reviews and opportunity searches.
Make regular visits to all sites within your assigned area.
Work with Operations Management to develop projects, including process modeling, equipment specification, general arrangement drawings, and estimates.

Support the SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) department with technical support/professional services.
Ensure effective communication between the Operations and Engineering groups.
Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. Finds practical solutions, implements fixes, and adapts to unexpected challenges.
Assist with capital planning, budgets, estimating, and cost estimation.
Manage projects, complete structural designs and drawings, develop site plans, and perform other engineering tasks related to aggregate processing and remote distribution facilities.
Perform field support and troubleshooting of existing systems.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of project engineers throughout the project lifecycle

Must have knowledge of general engineering in a heavy industrial environment. Must have knowledge of aggregate processing, which includes crushing, screening, conveying, washing, stockpiling, and reclaiming.
Experience with crushers, screens, conveyors, water systems, railroad layout, earthwork, stormwater, and utilities preferred.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex problems, situations, in order to understand underlying patterns, identify key issues; examine information logically, question assumptions, and draw conclusions based on evidence.
Strong structural, concrete, and pumping systems design skills preferred. Must have a general knowledge of electrical and plant automation systems. Knowledge of aggregate process flow modeling is preferred.
Must have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets. Advanced computer skills in AutoCAD, word processing, and scheduling software is preferred.
Preferred engineering experience with aggregate design and processing facilities.
Engineering Degree Required: BS Civil Engineer, BS Mechanical Engineer, or BS Structural Engineer is preferred.
Project Management: Skills in project planning, execution, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
PE license is preferred.
Must have at least 10 years of experience in a heavy industrial, civil/mechanical engineering, or mining environment.
Leadership Skills: Acts decisively and supports all aspects of the company to work together to accomplish objectives, vision, mission and values of Vulcan. Trusts and allows people to do their job, holding them accountable for the full extent of their responsibilities.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
