The Production Supervisor acts as a member of the plant leadership team, can fill in for the Plant Manager or other department managers, and collaborates with management to guide equipment failures and maintenance activities. They support the steam and chilled water plants and customers, ensuring preventive maintenance, calibrations, and water chemistry improvements, while managing plant, distribution, and metering projects to meet specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.
The role involves interfacing with plant personnel, customers, and vendors regarding operation of steam and chilled water equipment, arranging outages, and coordinating routine and emergency maintenance, including scheduling and inspecting distribution piping repairs. The supervisor maintains relationships with local government and utilities, supports event response to leaks, obtains permits for distribution facility excavations, and participates in plant meetings, training, and design initiatives.
They assist in developing plant production reports, monitor and interpret plant and customer data, support monthly billing of district energy customers, and provide technical and marketing support for steam and chilled water service proposals and contracts. Travel to project sites, customer locations, or consultant locations may be required.
Possess leadership skills and knowledge to assist the Plant Manager with various tasks to ensure continuity of the steam and chilled water plant and distribution systems to ensure safe, reliable operations of the company. The Production Supervisor should display knowledge and capabilities related to engineering design, project management, procurement, have a strong background in data analysis and a thorough understanding of operational and maintenance functions of district energy plants. Knowledge of company and government regulations including environmental and industrial procedures is needed for this position.
