Project Engineer - Stay in Business (SIB)

Description

Join Squadron Energy as a Project Engineer - Stay in Business (SIB) and play a pivotal role in delivering sustaining capital projects that maintain, upgrade, and enhance our renewable energy and gas firming assets. Reporting to the SIB Project Manager, you'll work across the full project lifecycle-from concept to close-ensuring asset reliability, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

• Prepare and present project status reports, risks, and outcomes to management and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain governance tools and processes (stage-gate frameworks, risk registers, cost/schedule management, lessons learned, quality assurance).
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and project objectives.
• Deliver SIB sustaining capital projects from concept through execution, aligned with asset management strategies and governance standards.
• Identify and prioritise SIB project opportunities in collaboration with Engineering & Optimisation and Operations teams.
• Engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including asset management, operations, design consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Drive continuous improvement and integrate sustainability and AI best practices into project delivery.

Requirements

With proven experience and expertise across the project lifecycle, we work with local communities and our customers to lead the transition to Australia's clean energy future.

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems/Automation, Renewable Energy, or related discipline).
• Willingness to travel regularly to sites (primarily QLD, VIC, and NSW).
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and process improvement mindset.
• Minimum 5 years' project experience, ideally in renewable energy (wind experience highly valued); oil & gas, mining, or heavy industry experience also considered.
• Current driver's licence.
• Skilled in project management tools and systems (e.g., MS Project, SAP) and methodologies (PMI, Prince2, or similar).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to deliver projects from concept to execution, including governance and technical support.
• Strong understanding of asset performance, optimisation, and operational environments.
