The Principal designs, implements, and evaluates curricula that meet inmates' needs while maintaining current educational standards. They supervise education staff, enforce policies, and ensure compliance with facility goals. The role also establishes safe classroom environments and monitors activities, attendance, and instructional effectiveness.
A master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or Education Administration from an accredited institution is required. Candidates need at least three years of full‑time professional education experience, including one year in an administrative or supervisory role, with allowable graduate coursework substitutions for up to two years of experience. Required certifications or licensure must be obtained and maintained, and continued employment depends on retaining partner‑agency credentials.
