The Facility Manager will champion a strong safety culture, supervise on‑site operations, and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include managing balance‑of‑plant maintenance, coordinating contracts for site services, conducting visual inspections of electrical and structural components, scheduling substation outages, procuring spare parts, maintaining detailed logs, and facilitating regular performance reporting.
Apex is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee daily operations of its utility‑scale wind farm in Botetourt County, VA. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the manager will serve as the single point of contact at the site, managing all operations and maintenance activities for balance‑of‑plant assets and overseeing OEM contracts and regulatory reporting. The role also includes representing Apex locally with landowners and community stakeholders.
Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, and have at least five years of wind site management experience with two years of substation, collection, or transmission equipment operation and maintenance. Required credentials include NFPA 70E accreditation, valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and a valid driver’s license. Strong analytical, planning, communication, and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to work 24/7 in physically demanding conditions.
The role involves both indoor office work and outdoor duties, often in inclement weather and possibly extended hours to complete repairs.
