Certified Crane Operator

Description

The Affirmative Action Officer has been assigned to direct the establishment and monitor the implementation of personnel procedures to guide our affirmative action program throughout Summers-Taylor, Inc. A notice explaining the company’s policy will remain posted.

• Operate crawler and hydraulic cranes for bridge construction
• Perform rigging inspection and daily crane inspection
• Listen to warning alarms and respond accordingly, and dread boom angle and drum rotation indicators
• Operate crane to lift and move materials and other objects
• Plan all lifts, use capacity charts
• Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property
• Keep equipment clean and well maintained on an ongoing basis
• Perform daily inspections and report findings using effective verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

Summers Taylor is seeking a highly skilled Certified Crane Operator to join our team that works in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. The Crane Operator position is responsible for operating heavy crane equipment in a safe and appropriate manner at highway and civil heavy construction projects. This role requires a keen understanding of load capacities, site layout, and operating procedures to ensure that lifts are conducted safely and within industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of operating heavy machinery in a construction setting and will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Class A or B CDL license with clean driving record and current DOT physical card required
• CIC, NCCO or equivalent OSHA-approved crane certification required
• Must compile with I-9 and E-Verify requirements
• 3-5 years of crane operating experience required, bridge construction preferred
• Must pass Drug Screen and Physical
• Ultimate responsible person during crane or hoisting operations to ensure the pick is safe
• Must be able to climb ladders, stand and walk on uneven surfaces as well as sit for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Must have reliable Transportation
• Strong focus on safety procedures
• Must comply with criminal background check
• Respond according to hand and/or verbal instructions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong focus on work ethic and quality work performance
• Be thoroughly familiar with crane control functions
