Perform cost analysis, identify and investigate irregularities/abnormalities and report to management.
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
Develop procedures and best business practices. Constantly and intuitively think about process improvements.
Review accounts to understand and resolve unusual items and variances.
Design, create, and document accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
Prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP and the accounting policies established by the companies.
Prepare state and local tax compliance and handle tax audits.
Provide support and necessary documents for annual external audit.
Process and account for cash payments and receipts.
Supervision of direct reports is not part of the role at this time. However, this may be required as the company and responsibilities grow.
Perform account reconciliation to ensure balances are correct.
Liaise and interface regularly with management and executive teams.
Lead the implementation of the accounting system (NetSuite) for Ascending Eagle. Leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Perform month-end closing.

Minimum advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to prepare and deliver reports to management, both in writing and verbally.
CPA designation highly preferred.
Previous experience at public accounting firms required.
Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations and utilize information in written reports.
Previous experience with NetSuite accounting software required.
Focus and determination to solve problems creatively and does not give up – a “can do” attitude.
Strong competency in writing memos and emails. Clear and on point communication.
Strong critical thinking skills and understanding of accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)
Experience with system implementation and utilizing new technology to improve efficiency desired.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting AND 4 to 6 years of full-time accounting experience including Accounting Manager level.
