The Surveyor performs construction surveying and layout for heavy civil and marine projects, establishing control networks, benchmarks, and reference points. They execute hydrographic, bathymetric, and topographic surveys, verify elevations, grades, and alignments per contract documents, and prepare as‑built surveys, quantity calculations, and progress measurements. Coordination with project teams supports construction sequencing, compliance with DOT standards, and accurate record keeping.
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil / Marine Infrastructure Surveyor to support complex, large‑scale marine and heavy civil construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring accurate layout, alignment, elevations, and quantities for marine projects. The Surveyor works closely with project management, field supervision, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain precise survey control and deliver safe, high‑quality infrastructure.
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in heavy civil or marine construction surveying, with proven work on marine, bridge, or other heavy infrastructure projects. Required skills include construction layout and control, GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations, and the ability to read civil, structural, and marine drawings. Proficiency with survey software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D), a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass an oral swab drug test are also required.
Preferred qualifications include marine construction or heavy bridge project experience, particularly with pile layout, dredging quantities, cofferdam surveys, and DOT projects. The role is outdoor and field‑based, exposing the employee to water, varying weather, rugged terrain, heat, confined spaces, and high noise levels. Physical demands involve standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lb unassisted.
