The Preconstruction Manager manages the preconstruction process efficiently, documents progress, develops accurate estimates and schedules, reviews weekly progress, and ensures projects stay on schedule and within budget. The role requires understanding local market logistics, making timely decisions, collaborating with operations, business development, and other stakeholders, and supporting the RFP process while maintaining positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and partners.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in estimating or construction project management, preferably with a general contractor on commercial projects such as aviation, education, senior living, public works, or hospitality. Experience partnering with operations, estimating, and business development teams is required. Candidates must possess strong construction knowledge, project management and estimating skills, analytical ability, leadership, professionalism, organization, conflict resolution, and excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn job‑specific software are also required.
