Director of Project Operations - Building Services (HVAC & Electrical)

Description

The Director of Project Operations is a senior leader responsible for executing and driving profitability of Building Services projects, including commercial HVAC changeouts, retrofits, and electrical work. Based in Jacksonville, FL, this role oversees Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, translating company strategy into disciplined, repeatable delivery that meets safety, schedule, and budget objectives while enhancing client satisfaction and long‑term growth.

• Lead Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams across multiple active projects.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships as a senior client‑facing leader.
• Ensure projects are safely delivered on schedule, within budget, and in contract compliance.
• Establish and enforce standardized project management processes, reporting, and controls.
• Act as escalation point for complex project, financial, or operational issues.
• Champion safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all projects.
• Mentor and develop project and field leadership; support staffing and performance management.
• Partner cross‑functionally with sales, estimating, finance, and operations to drive execution.
• Provide performance reporting, insights, and recommendations to division leadership.
• Accountable for project financial performance and P&L ownership.
• Lift and carry up to 30 lbs; climb ladders to access job sites and rooftops.
• Stand, walk, and move throughout sites, up to approximately 5,000 steps per day.
• Operate or be trained to operate forklifts and other equipment as required.
• Distinguish colors for safety, equipment identification, and diagnostics.

Requirements

• Own project and departmental P&L: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin management.
• 10+ years in mechanical, electrical, or MEP construction with progressive leadership responsibility.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction operations, contracts, scheduling, and cost controls.
• Experience implementing safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and standard project reporting tools.

Compensation includes a starting base salary of $150,000+, with options for a company vehicle and gas card or a $700 monthly vehicle allowance plus gas card.
