Key duties include inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments used in chemical manufacturing processes. The role involves detecting abnormal fluctuations, testing the accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, and other devices, tracing and repairing solid‑state components, decontaminating and replacing defective parts, and performing instrument installation, loop checking, and SIS calibrations. Additional tasks cover analyzing calibrations for pH probes, LEL detectors, CO monitors, fitting and bending tubing, lubricating instruments, replacing wiring, recording calibration data and inventory, and preparing schematics and reports.
- Install, repair, maintain, and calibrate electronic instruments and gauges.
- Inspect and test electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic devices controlling chemical processes.
- Diagnose abnormal process measurements using meters, indicators, and flow meters.
- Trace and repair solid‑state components in analog and digital instrumentation.
- Decontaminate, disassemble, and replace defective instrument parts.
- Perform instrument installation, loop checking, and SIS calibrations.
- Analyze and service calibrations for pH probes, LEL detectors, CO monitors, etc.
- Fit and bend process and air tubing; lubricate instruments and replace wiring.
- Record calibration data, parts usage, and maintain inventory.

ZACHRY is seeking an experienced I/E Instrument Technician for its Maintenance Site BASF in Bishop, TX. This is a maintenance position with no per diem offered. The technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating electronic equipment and gauges that control, regulate, or monitor mechanical systems.
Candidates must have at least five years of instrumentation experience, be able to read blueprints, and work on low‑ and high‑pressure tubing and piping systems. Required tools, a current TWIC card, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to follow company policies are mandatory. Certifications needed are NCCER Industrial Instrument Technician and NCCER Plus, along with successful completion of a drug test and background check.
The position demands extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lb. Workers must be able to work at heights up to 300 ft using proper fall protection, climb ladders and stairs, and operate on elevated platforms. The role requires outdoor work in all weather conditions and the use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, face shields, and ear protection.
