As a member of the Rolls‑Royce Civil Nuclear Mechanical Team, you will be responsible for the design and substantiation of a wide range of structures and components. The UDG project encompasses design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of several systems, providing an interesting and challenging design/substantiation role. It also offers the opportunity to see designs realised, installed and commissioned, delivering invaluable experience.
In this role you will design, analyse and assess various structures and components, undertaking design calculations in line with industry codes and standards. You will generate, evaluate and select cost‑effective designs that meet space constraints, customer requirements and UK regulatory specifications, and work with the CAD team to produce fabrication drawings and equipment specifications. Designs will be presented at internal technical reviews and you will collaborate with fabricators to bring them to reality.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in mechanical or structural/stress analysis, can produce detailed technical reports, presentations and analysis summaries, and possesses a solid understanding of material properties, industry standards and regulations. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) is required.
Employment with Rolls‑Royce Submarines requires a Security Check clearance, which the company will support if you do not already hold it, and is limited to UK nationals or MoD‑approved dual nationals. The role offers a hybrid working model, a competitive salary dependent on experience (Grade 7‑9), and an inclusive workplace where diversity fuels innovation. Candidates are encouraged to inform their current manager of their application.
