Ensuring compliance with the company’s established standards, conventions, and procedures, and applicable engineering codes and practices (inc. BS 8888);
You will lead on BIM model development and design services across a growing portfolio of Front End and Detailed Design projects for electrical substation projects.
Develop and deliver our BIM strategy for the Transmission and Distribution sector.
Lead on the preparation of 2D drawings, including general arrangements, cable routing, earthing, and SLDs etc;
Working alongside Project Information Managers to setup and manage CDE environments (ACC, BIM 360 and Bentley ProjectWise);
Leading BIM / CAD improvement initiatives and tools development.
Lead on the development of 3D BIM models, including federation, coordination, clash detection and resolution across multiple disciplines;
Provide Technical Leadership on the FEED and Detail Design workstream for National Grid, SSEN-Transmission or other Transmission & Distribution clients.
Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
Develop a team of CAD technicians to deliver high quality models and drawings;
Ensuring compliance with National Grid / SSEN standards and project-specific BIM protocols;
Preparing and delivering training on BIM standards and workflows;

Experience of working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation.
Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed Design of electrical substation projects.
Strong understanding and leadership of the engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
A degree/diploma in Engineering design, drafting or equivalent.
Experience of CAD delivery for high hazard industrial projects (e.g., Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, High Voltage electrical infrastructure)
Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices.
You have a proven track record of leading others to produce complex designs and drawings to applicable engineering codes and standards. You are comfortable working in new and changing environments and have a desire to contribute to the success of the business. You are comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
Experience in a leadership/management position in a similar environment.
You will be working in a senior position based either in Epsom, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol or remotely.
Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
An appreciation of delivery and checking of technically compliant design deliverables in accordance with the input requirements, and ability to identify design issues.
Experience with a variety of CAD software, such as Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks Manage/Simulate, AutoCAD 2D, ReCap Pro, etc.
