Technical Principal - Civil

Description

The role leads a multidisciplinary design team within Global Delivery Services to deliver water and wastewater treatment (non‑infrastructure) and pipeline (infrastructure) projects for UK water utilities.

• Lead integrated design and build projects with UK management and design teams.
• Combine managerial and technical leadership to deliver projects on quality, budget, and schedule.
• Inspire and support teams to achieve technical excellence and digital innovation.
• Promote health and safety excellence, ensuring SHEQ compliance and CDM Principal Designer duties.
• Apply a carbon‑management mindset to design solutions.
• Conduct post‑project reviews to capture lessons learned and best practices.
• Ensure the design team follows company Engineering, CAD, and QA procedures.
• Lead project teams in the UK water sector and possess offshore project delivery acumen.
• Manage large multi‑disciplinary teams and provide technical review and assurance.
• Deliver design‑and‑build projects from feasibility to detailed design.
• Lead continuous improvement in Safety by Design and CDM compliance.
• Maintain a proactive, adaptable mindset.
• Prepare fee proposals and bid submissions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, has 12‑15+ years of UK engineering design experience, a strong track record in water treatment or pipeline projects, and is Chartered or working towards Chartered status.

• Hold a BEng/MEng in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Possess 12‑15+ years of UK engineering design experience with increasing responsibility.
• Demonstrated delivery of UK water treatment or pipeline design projects.
• Achieve or be working towards Chartered Engineer status with a UK Engineering Council institute.
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Understand commercial management and project delivery.
