Senior Portfolio Analyst

Description

The Senior Portfolio Analyst serves as the primary point of contact for borrowers and lenders within the Commercial Loan Servicing group, liaising with servicing staff, Berkadia Mortgage Banking, third‑party lenders, trustees, investors, government agencies, and real‑estate and construction professionals. The role manages a portfolio focused on non‑stabilized properties, structured transactions, balance‑sheet, and complex construction loans.

• Act as primary contact for borrowers and lenders, managing a commercial mortgage loan portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with loan documents, inter‑creditor, participation and servicing agreements; process loan‑related requests timely.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of loan documents and servicing contracts to administer loans and ensure company compliance.
• Monitor and process borrower requests, prepare underwriting recommendations, and coordinate with counsel, rating agencies, and trustees.
• Administer daily portfolio activities such as payment status checks, collection calls, fund identification, and compliance monitoring; escalate defaults.
• Collaborate with Tax, Insurance, and Escrow Analysis units to process borrower requests, reserve draws, and insurance maintenance.
• Collect and analyze property operating statements, rent rolls, and borrower financial statements.
• Review financial covenants, trigger events, and DSCR tests.
• Monitor property performance versus business plan and market conditions.
• Prepare quarterly asset summaries, surveillance reports, and other lender deliverables.
• Review and recommend packages for future funding draws, including contract and construction budget assessments.
• Handle referral requests to other servicing departments for lender‑consent transactions.
• Consult with managers and follow up with borrowers to ensure completion of requests.
• Manage and escalate complex issues requiring higher‑level decisions or external consent.
• Approve e‑forms and recommend defaulted loans for transfer to special servicer per approval limits.

Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and mortgage‑industry applications (e.g., McCracken Strategy); adaptable to new software.
• Strong customer service orientation with risk and asset management focus; excellent communication across all levels.
• Exceptional organizational skills, multitasking ability in fast‑paced environment, detail‑oriented.
• Skilled at analyzing property operating statements and rent rolls to assess asset performance against loan metrics.
• Minimum 3 + years experience in a similar commercial loan servicing or portfolio analyst role.
