The Night Shift Manager will take full operational leadership of a busy site on a 4‑on‑4‑off, 5‑on‑5‑off rotation from 5:30 am to 6:00 am, acting as the senior decision‑maker overnight and driving a safety‑led culture while overseeing all operational and maintenance activities.
- Lead all operational and maintenance activity on site during the night shift
- Act as the Statutory 8.1(d) presence on site
- Provide clear leadership and direction to employees and contractors as senior site representative
- Drive a strong Health, Safety and Environmental culture and ensure full compliance with legislation, Cardinal Rules and site procedures
- Plan, allocate and supervise work in line with competence, risk assessments and business priorities
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions
- Manage and develop the performance, capability and engagement of the shift team
- Ensure production and maintenance targets are achieved safely, efficiently and within cost constraints
- Oversee plant, equipment and facilities to maintain high standards and safe operation
- Maintain accurate records, reports and IMS documentation
- Ensure effective shift handovers and communication with opposite shift and wider site management team
- Support training, inductions and ongoing development for employees and contractors

- Proven supervisory or management experience in quarry, manufacturing, logistics or heavy industrial environment
- IOSH Managing Safely certification (preferably NEBOSH qualification)
- SHE NVQ Level 3 or QCF equivalent (or working towards)
- Geological Training Level 4 (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and ability to challenge unsafe behaviours
- Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast‑paced operational setting
- Skilled in planning, prioritising and allocating work across a shift
- Strong decision‑making and calm under pressure
- Excellent communication with operatives, contractors and senior stakeholders
- Experience managing incidents, investigations and implementing corrective actions
- IT literate with experience using operational or maintenance systems
- Flexible and resilient approach to night work and changing operational demands
