Global Head of Compliance

Description

Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, Surbana Jurong, the Head of Compliance will be responsible for designing and managing all compliance related programmes for SJ Group.

• Deploying resources to discharge Group Compliance’s mandate to protect the assets, brands, and reputation of the SJ Group.
• Drives effective leadership and people management to ensure optimal performance of the team to ensure successful delivery of the company strategy.
• Ensuring Group Compliance conducts annual and periodic compliance risk assessments to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements and validate assessment results with the relevant management, and governance committees.
• Aligns the compliance strategy with business strategy and manages legal and regulatory requirements.

• Overseeing the assessment of new laws, regulations and trends and their applicability and implementation to SJ’s operations to ensure that all relevant risks are fully identified and managed.
• Leading a team of 6 to 9 compliance professionals in countries where SJ Group operates in.
• Manage senior stakeholders by keeping them apprised of key issues, briefing and securing their support to the SJ Group Compliance team’s recommendations and proposals.
• Identifying, participating, and leading compliance projects as they arise within defined scope and timeframe and in accordance with agreed cost and quality and other KPI targets.
• Maintaining SJ Group Compliance policies relating to reporting of violations and concerns and provide management with relevant metrics.
• Review existing compliance programme and ensure that it is robustly implemented across the SJ Group.
• Delivers a Compliance Program with effective controls and processes within the SJ Group’s operations to ensure strong management of its integrity compliance risks.
• Ensuring the corporate governance system operates to ensure the businesses are compliant with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
• Leading the Group Compliance team by setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing on-going feedback.

Requirements

• Minimum 20 years operational compliance experience in global organisations, with at least the last 5 years at senior management level with experience managing or reporting directly to board and C-suite.
• A proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO37001 certification and compliance programmes.
• Tertiary degree or equivalent in law, finance, business, or commerce
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Process improvement orientated, and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
• Ability to draft detailed, logical, well explained and comprehensive decisions and explain complex compliance, regulatory and legal concepts.
• Demonstrated capacity for commercial oriented problem solving.
