Specification Design Engineer

You will primarily be responsible for technical development of capital and customer projects for our distribution network, from feasibility through to approved for construction stage, using a suite of engineering standards.

• Applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 to major construction projects.
• Design & Specification of EHV Overhead line systems.
• Your design duties will include production of specifications for either EHV substation plant, EHV cable or overhead line systems. Also, including tendering and evaluation to support project delivery.
• Design and Specification of EHV substation Plant (inc Transformers, Switchgear and ancillary equipment).
• Design & Specification EHV Underground cable systems.
• Design and Development of EHV substations Projects.
• In this role you will liaise with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure that necessary project construction can be carried out robustly, cost effectively and be technically compliant

• Knowledge of engineering standards and contract management practices that include EHV plant, substations, cables or overhead line systems,
• Knowledge of standards associated with EHV power systems up to 132kV
• Ability to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, requiring first class communication and organisational skills.
• The necessary background experience and technical knowledge to attain Competent Person status as defined in the Company’s Distribution Safety Rules to facilitate personal access to the Company’s operational sites
• Previous experience in the design and construction of electrical distribution networks up to 132kV
• Engineering knowledge of EHV power systems
• At least an HNC level qualification within a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
• Ability to manage and prioritise work to ensure project timescales are met
• A full and valid driving licence is essential.
• Proficiency with using Microsoft Office applications.
