Facilities Manager

Description

This role will mainly support our sites across the Greater Toronto Area, and requires periodic travel to our other branches across Canada to conduct site inspections, perform maintenance, and ensure consistent standards.

• Evaluate when work should be completed internally vs. externally and manage contractor performance where applicable.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts.
• Support branches directly by traveling to sites for inspections or hands-on maintenance.
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations across multiple facilities.
• Obtain quotes for repairs or projects that require external contractors and ensure cost-effective, high-quality work.
• Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of maintenance technicians and custodial staff.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing.
• Perform general building repairs, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and responsiveness across all facilities.
• Troubleshoot issues quickly and perform reactive maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal departments for major repairs, installations, or renovations.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify issues before they escalate.
• Delegate tasks while remaining hands-on with repairs and troubleshooting.
• Maintain and monitor the maintenance budget for tools, repairs, equipment, and outsourced work.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems and equipment.
• Ensure seasonal readiness (e.g., testing snow blowers, preparing winter equipment, reviewing HVAC performance).
• Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

We’re seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager who is both a hands-on technician and a strong team leader. This is a working manager role — you will lead maintenance operations while being actively involved in completing repairs, conducting inspections, and ensuring all facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

• 5+ years of hands-on maintenance or building operations experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team while remaining actively involved in the work.
• Strong organizational skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents.
• Strong technical skills across general building maintenance: plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics, carpentry, drywall, and troubleshooting.
• Trade certification (e.g., Electrician, Millwright, HVAC Technician) is an asset but not required.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites, including periodic travel across Canada.
• Experience developing and executing preventative maintenance programs.
