Description

The Construction Engineer will plan, develop, coordinate and manage onsite construction engineering activities for projects of varying size, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and compliance with contracts, budgets and schedules.

Key duties include managing job controls, developing and maintaining project schedules, overseeing engineering assignments, providing technical support in planning, quality control and constructability, and ensuring compliance with company and client requirements. The role also involves creating and administering engineering procedures, representing Granite in client meetings, maintaining project reporting, and mentoring project staff.

• Manage job controls to ensure contract, budget, schedule, and cost compliance.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to keep work on time and under budget.
• Oversee engineering assignments and activities for timely, budget‑conscious completion.
• Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, design interpretation and constructability reviews.
• Create, implement and administer project engineering procedures and documentation.
• Represent Granite in client and project management meetings to facilitate effective communication.
• Maintain comprehensive job reporting and logs for project compliance.
• Supervise, mentor and develop project staff to meet standards.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field is preferred, with at least four years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering or field support.

The candidate must be proficient with MS Office, AGTEK Take‑off and Primavera Scheduling software, possess advanced knowledge of construction engineering codes and standards, and demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and team‑leadership abilities.

The position requires regular standing, walking, sitting and computer work, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and adherence to Granite’s safety initiatives and Code of Conduct. A valid driver’s license is required.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Possess 4+ years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering or field support.
• Proficient with MS Office, AGTEK Take‑off and Primavera Scheduling software.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of construction engineering codes, standards and inter‑disciplinary relationships.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑leadership skills.
• Ability to work safely around large construction equipment and comply with corporate safety initiatives.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct.

The base salary range is $96,541 – $144,813, depending on experience, skills, location and education.
