Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

EMCOR Construction Services provides comprehensive mechanical and electrical construction services.
Responsible for directing the financial functions of the company and managing all operating unit assets, managing cash flow, coordinating financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies.
Participate and coordinate internal/external audits schedule and requirements.
Manage claims to reduce potential exposure in accordance with Company loss control policy.
Conduct annual audit of stored records to ensure compliance with established company and legal regulations.
Ensure financial and accounting functions, financial controls, and records meet all federal, state, local and company regulatory requirements.
Prepare the company’s financial reporting package and ancillary documentation timely and in accordance with applicable established policies and procedures.
Manage all operating unit assets including fixed assets and accounts receivable.
Manage all data processing operations to ensure timely and accurate reporting as required.
Serve as a strategic partner to the Company President, proactively advancing key initiatives effectively and within agreed timelines.
Prepare monthly insurance loss runs and status of existing claims to determine adequate reserves are accrued and adjusted as needed.
Manage control of company property issued to employees leased by the company to ensure compliance with associated contracts.
Coordinate claims issues and legal activity with EMCOR Construction Services legal counsel by providing records, reports, and all other documentation that may be necessary to address a claim.
Review and approve payroll, purchase orders, accounts payable, expense vouchers and account adjustments.
Prepare for and lead monthly project reviews with President, executive staff, and project managers to evaluate job performance, assess risks, develop action plans and update the book position of each project.
Review contracts and leases prior to execution noting billing, payment, retention, bonding and insurance terms as well as any other issue that may be of concern or liability to the company and recommend appropriate modifications to senior management.
Monitor and analyze monthly overhead expenditures to justify and/or correct budget variances.
Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
Review and approve monthly HRIS reports to include Inter-Company Insurance Billings, 401k Contributions and FSA contributions.
Prepare executive payroll and generate reports as needed in the absence of accounting and/or payroll personnel.
Coordinate support requirements for construction operation with company chief executive.
Lead the accounting department in Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Payroll, HR; ability to interface with Purchasing department as necessary.
Develop the processes/procedures necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, proper records maintenance, and adequate accounting controls in support of Company operations.
Ensure procurement of bonding and insurances as required by company policy and project contracts.
Drive Company project cost control policies and procedures; make improvements and train project managers on cost control where necessary.
Partner with Estimating in the preparation of pre-qualification documents as needed and ensure that changes in labor rates, insurance rates and tax rates are communicated timely and accurately.
Lead and participate in special projects as needed.
Review all credit applications or D&B reports on new and/or potential customers when conditions warrant.
Ensure executed contracts and all executed change orders, bond, certificate of insurance and applicable subcontracts are properly maintained.
Manage and coordinate employee data in the company’s HRIS including salary, bonus, benefits, 401(k), and FSA administration.
Coordinate and track company vehicle licensing and registration.
Coordinate filing of “Notice to Owner” on all new projects and monitor releases of lien for terminology and accuracy prior to signing.
Establish positive working relationships with company vendors and suppliers and coordinate vendor negotiations with Purchasing Manager for inclusion of terms and discounts.
Coordinate timely payments with suppliers and purchasing personnel.
Manage cash flow by coordinating timely collections with appropriate project managers and customers.

MBA in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline, and/or CPA accreditation is strongly preferred. BA/BS degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting or Business with seven to ten years recent related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
Executive level written and verbal communications skills.
Strong working knowledge of FASB, SOX, IRS, Federal, State and City regulations as they apply to the essential functions of this position.
Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, government agencies, general and subcontractors, and suppliers.
Possess an executive level knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, and operational functions of the organization, and support the President and executive management team in achieving the organization’s vision, goals, and objectives.
Experience overseeing and leading human resources, safety and risk functions preferred.
Ability to work well and contribute as a partner in a team environment.
Ability to work with the highest level of integrity and ethical standards.
Technical skills in accounting and finance within the level of experience for this position.
Professional experience as a corporate controller or CFO with 15+ years of experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance.
Ability to initiate actions and to deliver on commitments in a timely, accurate manner.
Ability to improve processes, analyze, and solve problems on a proactive, strategic, and tactical level.
Ability to lead people and get results through influence.
Preferred familiarity with construction contract language and terms and construction accounting. This includes but is not limited to contracting process, project accounting, job costing, payroll and having worked in a union employee organization is preferred.
Significant working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing financial and accounting practices.
Public Accounting background; construction accounting experience preferred.
Strategic approach with ability to understand local markets and specific aspects of business.
Advanced computer/technical skills with various accounting applications (life cycle of the accounting and finance departments). Previous experience with system conversions o helpful.
Microsoft Office expertise, including advanced Excel skills
