Description

The Lead Day Porter is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and supervising the building's cleaning staff to ensure that offices, hallways, stairs, and other interior areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition while also performing basic cleaning duties as needed.

In this role the employee oversees both interior and exterior cleaning operations, manages staff schedules, handles inventory control, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and equipment usage standards.

• Supervise and schedule interior cleaning staff, covering waste removal, floor care, dusting, restroom upkeep, wall washing, polishing, spill cleanup, mat placement, and window cleaning.
• Assign tasks, inspect work quality, issue supplies, and manage inventory to maintain adequate cleaning materials.
• Participate in hiring, train staff, conduct performance reviews, and recommend promotions or dismissals.
• Prepare and present reports on room occupancy, hours worked, staff assignments, tasks performed, and department expenses.
• Oversee exterior building maintenance including cleaning, snow removal, and upkeep of walls, windows, parking areas, walkways, gardens, pools, and stairwells.
• Assign staff to minor maintenance tasks such as painting, light replacement, window repair, furniture moves, door repairs, landscaping, and basic plumbing.
• Perform additional duties like lawn care, outdoor furniture maintenance, inventory control, supply ordering, tenant move assistance, and snow removal.
• Respond promptly to spills, emergencies, repairs, broken equipment, structural damage, plumbing issues, HVAC problems, and other safety concerns.
• Ensure safe operation and proper training on cleaning and snow removal equipment, tools, chemicals, and power devices to protect staff and environment.
• Manage Safety Data Sheets, train staff on hazard communication, enforce use of protective gear, and dispose of chemicals responsibly.

Requirements

Key competencies required include strong organization and communication skills, flexibility, meticulous attention to detail, thoroughness, effective collaboration, and a results‑oriented mindset.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with at least two years of related supervisory experience, basic mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with the MS Office Suite and work order systems.

The position operates in a professional office environment with regular travel between properties, requiring the ability to lift at least 50 lb, stoop, climb, and use vision and communication skills to perform duties safely.
