As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for producing end‑to‑end fiber optic networks, testing and troubleshooting continuity, and operating all relevant testing equipment. You will prep splice enclosures from manufacturers such as Tyco, CommScope, and Corning, and utilize fusion splicers, OTDRs, DWDM/CWDM, OLTS, power meters, and other tools. Your work will involve outdoor utility construction sites and require a strong understanding of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
MasTec Communications Group builds for the future and is seeking a qualified Fiber Splicer for the Atlanta market. The role requires extensive experience with outside plant fiber networks, including interpreting prints, splicing, and troubleshooting, as well as familiarity with OTDR and OLTS testing. Candidates will also handle prepping OSP cables ranging from 96 to 1728 counts, including mid‑span and ring cuts on active networks, while ensuring accurate documentation for billing and 3GIS records. The position offers a safety‑mindful environment where employees can develop new skills and contribute to community technology advancement.
Ideal candidates prioritize safety daily, have a track record of high‑quality work, and possess at least three years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience. They should be adept problem‑solvers, enjoy hands‑on work, and be willing to mentor team members. Relevant MOS codes (V80B, B05A, 3D157, 6423, 5699) align well with this position.
Compensation ranges from $27 to $32 per hour and includes a 401(k) match, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, life and disability insurance, a Red Wing boot voucher, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Additional benefits comprise flexible spending accounts, an Employee Assistance Program, paid time off, holidays, family and medical leave, sick time, and a $1,000 referral incentive for successful hires.
