The engineer will define and own the architecture for self‑contained, customer‑deployed solutions, design integrations with utility systems, and establish development, testing, and deployment processes for customer‑managed environments. Partnering closely with Product Management, they will translate business needs into technical plans and guide the team through the delivery roadmap.
- Lead and manage a software engineering team of ~3 engineers, providing technical guidance and people management
- Define and own the architecture for self-contained, customer-deployed solutions that integrate seamlessly with utility infrastructure
- Design robust integrations with customer systems, data sources, and external utility infrastructure
- Establish development workflows, testing strategies, and deployment processes for customer-managed environments

LineVision is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer / Tech Lead to build utility‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure. The role is hybrid (2‑4 days in‑office) at the Boston, MA headquarters and offers the chance to own greenfield technical architecture and lead a small high‑performing engineering team delivering LineVision solutions directly within customer environments.
Success in this role requires critical thinking, innovative problem‑solving, strong ownership, and effective stakeholder management. The candidate must be able to mentor the team, navigate complex technical challenges, and align decisions with both customer and organizational goals.
- Full Stack Engineering Excellence: 5+ years experience across the stack, including hardware provisioning and application development
- Linux Systems Mastery: deep proficiency with Red Hat/CentOS administration, OS configuration, and troubleshooting
- Technical Leadership: at least 2 years leading technical initiatives or managing engineering teams
- Python & Web Development: strong Python skills and experience building web UIs for complex applications
- Customer‑Deployed Solutions: proven experience building and deploying software in customer‑managed or hybrid environments
- Integration Architecture: experience designing and implementing integrations using APIs, data pipelines, and various protocols
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Podman, OpenShift)
- Background in security compliance frameworks (NERC CIP, ISO 27001, SOC 2)
- Prior experience in energy, utility, or critical infrastructure sectors with 24/7 reliability
- Experience with self‑contained appliance or embedded system development lifecycle
- Track record of delivering complex greenfield projects from concept to production
- Comfortable with direct customer engagement and technical discussions with utility stakeholders
