Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for managing all technical, commercial, and financial activities for engineering projects in accordance with the project schedule and budget. This includes directing and coordinating an engineering design team and/or subcontractor activities in accordance with project/client procedures, scope of work, project cost control, client/vendor/contractor interface, and contract specifications. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact with the client for all project-related activities and communication. The Project Manager also will be an integral member of our firm’s Project Management Organization (PMO).
- Ensure that Chemstress’s and the client’s quality control procedures are followed
- Provide project management of single to multi-disciplined engineering projects and maintain responsibility for overall execution of work
- Responsible for participating in PMO meetings and engaging in the development of best practices in project management
- Work with clients to develop scope and resolve conflicts; document and execute changes in scope of the project
- Establish objectives and provide performance feedback for project team members
- Coordinate feasibility level scope and cost estimates as well as detailed design and project execution
- Anticipate project staffing needs and provide input to selection of project team members
- Actively promote, support, and monitor Chemstress’s safety policies and the safety policies of our clients
- Work collaboratively and build effective relationships internally and with clients
- Anticipate problems and work with client, engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and project team to provide corrective actions
- Lead data gathering, design reviews, installations, checkout/startups and troubleshooting efforts associated with project work
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients regarding project related items
- Create concepts and provide options to solve complex process problems
- Establish project schedule and budget, and execute and monitor progress in meeting schedule, budget and contractual requirements
- Act as technical resource for team and actively coach junior engineers and designers
- Authorizes a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background

- Willingness to commute to office location at least 3 days per week
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- Accepts that this position may require some domestic overnight travel
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Must be an organized, self-starter who can independently manage time effectively
- Ability to collaborate with others in an on-site, team environment
- Knowledge of the Stage-Gate (FEL – Front-End Loading), EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) project delivery methods with strong acumen in the technical, commercial and financial aspects of projects
- Communicate effectively across all levels within the organization
- Ability to utilize the required technology such as computers, phones, and tablets to complete job duties
- Travel as required for field work and/or other client/business objectives
- Possesses a valid driver’s license
- Submits to a drug test post offer
- Demonstrate reliable, consistent, and punctual work-site attendance
- Minimum five (5) years project management experience in the industrial chemical sector, with experience in consulting preferred
- Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel and able to review drawings using various CAD packages
- B.S. degree in Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university (Chemical preferred); Other degrees may be considered based on past project experiences
- Ability to meet the quality and productivity standards required by the company
- Have the ability to handle varying workloads and the variable stress levels associated with said workload

Job type: Full time, direct hire
Relocation assistance and sign-on bonuses are offered on a case-by-case basis.
Pay: $100K-150K (Salary, but will earn for any hours worked over 40/week)
Location: On-site in Akron, OH - Hybrid schedule option
PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT design any residential, commercial, or retail projects. Successful candidates will have industrial experience. This is also a HYBRID position and remote candidates cannot be considered. Relocation assistance is offered on a case-by-case basis.
