Key duties include leading electricians and apprentices, assigning tasks, and providing performance feedback; training new hires and fostering ongoing development; planning and scheduling work in collaboration with project managers and other trades; and conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with codes and project standards. The foreman also enforces safety policies, manages materials and equipment, maintains clear communication with stakeholders, troubleshoots on‑site issues, documents progress, and resolves conflicts to keep projects on schedule.
The Electrical Foreman is a skilled leader who supervises and coordinates electrical crews on commercial and industrial projects. This role requires journeyman‑level expertise, deep knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and a commitment to safety, project specifications, and quality standards.
The position demands comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, transformers, distribution panels, and control systems, as well as proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics. Familiarity with national, state, and local electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA 70E is essential, alongside strong troubleshooting, project management, and leadership abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and time‑management skills are also required.
Applicants should have at least three years of experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects, advanced knowledge of NEC codes, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications. Preferred qualifications include OSHA 10 or 30 certification and NFPA 70E training.
The role involves prolonged standing, walking several miles daily, climbing, crawling, and lifting up to 75 lb, as well as the use of power tools and trench‑digging equipment. Work is performed in varied weather conditions and confined spaces within noisy construction sites, both indoors and outdoors.
