Maintenance Repair Technician III - Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

Description

The Machine Repair Technician Level 3 will lead advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex baggage handling systems and associated electrical/mechanical components. In this senior technical role you will manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, provide team leadership, and ensure operational excellence through detailed documentation and data analysis, thereby supporting seamless airport operations, safety compliance and system efficiency.

• Diagnose and repair baggage handling systems and related electrical/mechanical components.
• Perform scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance, leading preventive, predictive and corrective efforts.
• Lead, delegate, and communicate tasks professionally with customers and team members.
• Replace system parts such as encoders, photo eyes and controllers; interpret manuals and work orders.
• Record maintenance activity in the CMMS and analyze data to identify and resolve issues.
• Operate forklifts, golf carts and company vehicles; clear baggage jams to minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety program requirements and complete required trainings.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, ability to obtain security clearance, 5 + years maintenance experience, flexibility to work first, second or third shift including weekends and holidays.
• Preferred qualifications: mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic repair skills; familiarity with airport operations; intermediate PLC control knowledge; ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics; experience with passenger boarding bridges and conveyance systems; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, project management tools and CMMS software.
• Physical demands: regularly stand, walk, climb, lift up to 50 lb, work in small spaces and ladders, and maintain required vision and hand‑eye coordination.
• Work environment: airport ramp with vehicular traffic, exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, fumes, chemicals, cold, vibration and confined conveyor areas.
