The Fiber Splicer joins Vero Broadband’s Outside Plant team, responsible for installing, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable to deliver high‑speed internet to residential customers. This role supports construction and activation of FTTH networks, handling both single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber and performing OTDR and power‑meter testing. Work includes field and occasional indoor tasks in handholes, pedestals, enclosures, and central offices, following industry safety standards and network documentation.
Success in this position depends on safety and security awareness, quality of work, and results‑orientation. Employees must observe safety procedures, produce accurate and thorough work, and consistently achieve or exceed goals.
The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of fiber splicing experience and is proficient with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber identifiers. A valid driver’s license, clean MVR, and a high school diploma or GED are required, along with a strong understanding of safety construction practices.
The role involves extensive travel across the Colorado market, with a company vehicle provided, and may require variable schedules including nights and weekends. Physical demands include working outdoors in extreme weather, standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, operating heavy machinery, and wearing required PPE.
Vero participates in E‑Verify and requires candidates to pass a background check, provide two professional references, and complete a pre‑employment drug screening in accordance with company policy. Failure to meet these requirements will result in rescinding the offer.
The position is non‑exempt, full‑time, and staff‑level, offering an hourly rate of $25‑$32 based on experience. Benefits include paid life insurance, medical plans, PTO, holidays, dental and vision options, and a 401(k) with employer match.
