The manager will oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and quality of life for residents, while handling staff, budgets, compliance, facilities, and customer service for families, volunteers and staff. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, senior‑care experience, and a commitment to exceptional service.
- Ensure high-quality, individualized resident care and manage admissions, orientation, and discharges.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive community and address resident and family concerns promptly.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff across care, administration, housekeeping, and food service; schedule shifts to maintain staffing levels.
- Provide ongoing mandatory training and foster a supportive work environment.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards; keep accurate records and oversee vendor relationships and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals and external agencies as needed.
- Develop and manage the operating budget, monitor expenses and revenues, and oversee billing, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Build relationships with residents, families, staff, and the local community; organize events to enhance well‑being.
- Market the retirement home, develop strategies to increase occupancy, and maintain community partnerships.

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime during peak periods. The role involves prolonged computer work, multitasking in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting, and requires the ability to assist residents and perform light lifting.
- 1‑3 years experience in senior living and knowledge of the Retirement Home Act (required).
- Registered Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (required).
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex resident and staff issues within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with computerized resident care management systems (asset).
- Knowledge of aging‑related issues, elder‑care best practices, and relevant regulations.
- Experience in budgeting, scheduling, and staff supervision.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) and recent vulnerable sector check and TB test.
