Procurement Business Partner

Description

In this role you will provide strategic procurement leadership, partnering with senior leaders, operational teams and suppliers to ensure value‑for‑money outcomes that align with business objectives and comply with governance requirements. The focus is on sourcing key materials such as transformers and switchgear, and services like design and construction for renewable energy projects.

• Represent procurement as a trusted strategic partner to executives and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct market analysis and supplier benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, estimating and delivery teams to align procurement with project goals.
• Lead sourcing events and contract negotiations for high‑impact projects.
• Clarify technical queries, manage technical deviations and evaluate vendor bids.
• Oversee vendor qualification, performance monitoring and risk mitigation.
• Review payment milestones, delivery terms, warranties and liquidated‑damage clauses.
• Coordinate with logistics to resolve supply‑chain issues.
• Champion procurement governance and compliance with policies, probity and legislation.
• Identify and proactively manage commercial, compliance, supplier and strategic risks.
• Forecast future procurement needs to support forward planning and demand visibility.
• Promote safety, ethical conduct, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced procurement professional with strong commercial acumen and an engineering background in power, utilities or EPC projects. You must be able to engage senior stakeholders, understand technical specifications and drawings, and drive procurement decisions in asset‑intensive environments.

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business Management, Commerce, Procurement, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
• Membership or eligibility for MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
• 5+ years procurement experience in power, utilities or EPC projects with an engineering background.
• Proven leadership of complex project sourcing and contract management activities.
• High‑level commercial acumen with data‑driven decision making.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across diverse groups.
• Clear, logical approach to procurement compliance and decision‑making.
• Problem‑solving ability and adaptability in dynamic environments.
• Collaborative and influential communication style.
