The Housing Specialist III (HSII) is responsible for a wide range of activities related to determining and documenting applicant and participant eligibility, income, rent, and contractual relationships with owners to support Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) operations, following written administrative policies and procedures. The role includes weekly interviews with HCV participants, full accountability for an assigned caseload with accurate files, resolution of call center cases, and responsiveness to participant and landlord inquiries, and may carry a caseload up to 1½ times that of a Housing Specialist I, including increased case management responsibilities and meeting HSII performance standards. Additional duties may be assigned to provide general team support.
Education equivalent to a four-year degree in Public Administration, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited institution is required, with at least two years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency or social/community service setting preferred; alternatively, a two-year degree combined with four years of experience satisfies the qualifications. Candidates must be able to apply program regulations, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, possess excellent interpersonal skills for participant interviews, and have strong computer and organizational abilities to prioritize tasks and deliver work on time.
