Description

• Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices to safeguard automation systems.
• Diagnose and resolve system malfunctions, software issues, and communication failures.
• Serve as a project point of contact and support design reviews as needed.
• Provide lifecycle engineering support—from concept and specifications through implementation and integration.
• Ensure SCADA and automation systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation including system configurations, network diagrams, and operating procedures.
• Evaluate real-time and historical system data to identify operational trends and potential issues.
• Configure, program, and deploy SCADA hardware and software components, such as HMIs, RTUs, PLCs, and communication protocols.
• Perform routine maintenance, updates, and backups to ensure system reliability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to enhance overall system understanding and troubleshooting capabilities.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of SCADA systems for utility and industrial clients. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who can lead projects, mentor others, and interface effectively with cross-functional teams.

The Senior SCADA Engineer will be responsible for system conceptual design, performance specifications, configuration, integration, and ongoing support of SCADA/ADMS systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot complex automation and control issues.

• Proficiency in one or more SCADA software platforms (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, Survalent, SEL, OSI, etc.).
• Approximately 25% travel, including occasional overnight trips to job sites or client locations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (required).
• Maintain working knowledge of electrical distribution system protection, relaying, and related control schemes.
• 8+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, or ADMS engineering, including at least 2 years working with power system distribution or substation SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and DNP3.
• Hands-on experience with PLC/RTU programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and cybersecurity practices relevant to operational technology (OT) systems.
