Senior Actuarial Analyst

Description

The role is Senior Actuarial Analyst in the Capital and Financial Risk teams at British Gas. You'll contribute to the Solvency II partial internal model, support capital and regulatory reporting, and help develop technical modelling capabilities. You’ll also partner with the Head of Financial Risk & Actuarial on risk management tasks such as stress testing, ORSA, and the Actuarial Function Report, offering broad exposure and development opportunities.

• Produce regulatory and economic capital results; run capital model elements and prepare review‑ready outputs.
• Support testing, validation, and internal controls for PRA submissions and validation reports.
• Contribute to capital‑related projects as needed.
• Enhance capital model components; build bespoke forecasting tools or GLMs delivering actionable insights.
• Identify opportunities for the capital team to add value beyond traditional actuarial work.
• Assist in producing regulatory deliverables including ORSA and Actuarial Function Report.
• Support reviews of technical provisions, dividend proposals, and stress/scenario testing.
• Work with PRA compliance team on horizon‑scanning and monitoring regulatory developments.

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills to clean, manipulate and interpret complex datasets.
• Applied statistical expertise with GLMs and simulation techniques.
• Knowledge of Solvency II and experience in capital modelling or regulatory reporting.
• Progress towards actuarial qualification (part‑qualified).
• Coding proficiency in Python or R.
• Data visualisation ability, including dashboard creation and Power BI.
• Clear communication and relationship‑building with non‑technical audiences.
