We are looking for an experienced Programme Lead to coordinate Auckland Council’s annual programme of performing arts, major events, city activations and experiences. This senior, highly collaborative role works across the council group, cultural organisations and external partners to ensure a joined‑up, strategic approach to event planning, investment and delivery. The position is full‑time, fixed‑term for one year.
You will bring extensive experience leading complex event or programme portfolios, with a proven ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate programmes at scale. You are confident engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders, navigating organisational and political complexity with sound judgement and professionalism.
Your strong communication, facilitation and relationship‑building skills enable you to bring diverse groups together and drive shared outcomes.
In addition, you should demonstrate a clear commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori outcomes and bicultural practice, and be willing to learn basic te reo Māori and apply tikanga appropriately in your work.
We hope to see a Bachelor’s degree in Events Management, Business or a related field, together with around ten years in a senior programme or event leadership role. Experience working in or alongside local government or other complex organisations will be considered valuable.
By joining us you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Auckland and our organisation’s growth and success. In return you will enjoy a competitive salary package, professional development opportunities and a supportive work environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. A range of council and partnership benefits is also available.
Salary Band I offers a range of $140,000 to $160,000 per annum, depending on skillset and experience.
