The FLEET Journeyman works under limited supervision, handling daily tasks that include coordinating the movement of materials and equipment, completing and reviewing records, maintaining tools, and performing cleanup. The role requires moderate to heavy lifting and strict adherence to safety rules and personal protective equipment.
The position is responsible for routine preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide range of equipment such as personnel lifts, Club Car passenger and utility carts, Tennant shop tools and sweepers, and various electric, diesel, and gas‑powered material handling machines. Additional duties include servicing small engines, battery maintenance, and light‑duty trucks like Ford F‑150 and Chevrolet 3500 pickups.
The journeyman must read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings, perform scheduled cleaning and lubrication, diagnose malfunctions using computerized tools, inspect and replace defective parts, test major components such as engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and disassemble and reassemble components as needed. Travel to worksites to repair mobile equipment is also required.
Site‑specific responsibilities include both light and heavy maintenance on forklifts, genie lifts, and JLG equipment, covering tasks such as air‑filter replacement, greasing, oil and fuel filter changes, fuel injector cleaning, hydraulic fluid maintenance, and lighting system repairs.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, automotive certifications such as EPA 608, and any manufacturer‑specific certifications for the equipment they will service. These credentials ensure the ability to perform complex diagnostics and repairs on electrical, cooling, braking, fuel, and steering systems.
Physical demands include working in dusty, hot, cold, or wet conditions, climbing stairs and ladders, standing or stooping for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 lb individually or 80 lb with assistance.
