Deal with a wide variety of people and personalities with tact, courtesy and professionalism across multiple business units, including, but not limited to other employees, various levels of management, vendors and customers.
Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance policies and procedures.
Implement process safety audit programs.
Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving scenarios related to PSM and RMP with a focus on mechanical integrity, management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety review (PSSR), incident management, and training programs, including deconstruction of codes and standards from engineering and legal vernacular to words and terms that someone without professional training in the subject area can understand and act upon.
Promote the Company’s ethical and EHS philosophy and culture.
Develop working knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) and codes and standards referenced in process safety management standards.
May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Assist in the development and implementation of the process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) Corporate requirements.
Successfully resolve potential conflicts and foster a win-win atmosphere with internal and external customers.

Maintain current knowledge of codes and standards related to gas processing facilities and petroleum and chemical terminals.
Carry a cell phone and respond during working hours, and as required during non-working hours.

Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned work tasks.
Track and follow up on process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) audit finding completions.

Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes simultaneous deadlines.
Knowledge reading and interpreting P&IDs, Cause and Effect diagrams, and other diagrams.
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Knowledge and understanding of process safety principles and their application in an operating facility.
Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
Must be able to work autonomously as situation dictates.

Bachelor Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, from an accredited academic institution.
Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.
Ability to identify, and regularly meet, expectations in an employee/employer relationship.
Active/current Professional Engineer registration and a related degree will be considered in lieu of an Engineering degree.
Travel is required and anticipated to be 25-35% annually, across a broad geographic region, and serving each of KM’s business units.
Travel across a broad geographic region (multiple states) is required. Travel by automobile or commercial aircraft is required for meetings at other corporate offices and operations facilities. Travel anticipated is 25-35%
Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is considered a plus.
Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft applications and database software, specifically including, and not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, PHA-Pro and SpheraCloud.
Experience with industry codes and standards such as API 510, 570, 576, and 653 considered a plus.
In addition to the degree requirement (or degree substitute), minimum of 3 years direct and active work experience in oil/gas industry engineering position is necessary.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Experience interacting with employees and various levels of management.
Must be customer-service oriented and have good organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Experience in the utilization of a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo, PCMS, etc.)
Articulate and present ideas, proposals and results to management.
Possess and consistently demonstrate well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
Must be a team player who is able to work within a group, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, exhibit excellent follow-through, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
