In this role, the technician will inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of vehicles and construction equipment using state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic tools, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards while minimizing downtime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to reduce downtime.
- Use diagnostic tools (scan tools, multimeters, software) to identify faults.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
- Document inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance accurately.
- Collaborate with mechanics and supervisors to prioritize and schedule work.
- Conduct road tests and system checks to verify repair quality.
- Follow safety policies and industry regulations.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and overhead positions.
- Perform repetitive reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
- Work in all climate conditions (heat and cold).
- Maintain balance, coordination, and stamina for physically demanding labor.

Fountain Services is seeking a motivated Automotive Diagnostic Technician to repair and maintain a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and numerous pieces of construction equipment at its fully equipped on‑site garage located at the Spindale, NC headquarters.
- Minimum 5 years automotive/heavy equipment repair and diagnostic experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pass mandatory drug screening.
- Proficient with diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of gas/diesel engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Referral from a current Fountain Services employee.
- Enrollment in or completion of apprenticeship, trade, or technical school program.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- ASE certification or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Appreciate instruction from leaders.
