Manager, Cost Accounting

Description

• Lead end‑to‑end cost accounting, analyzing production costs, labor, overhead, and material utilization.
• Design, maintain, and improve costing methodologies, inventory valuation, and WIP tracking systems.
• Review, reconcile, and analyze cost variances; identify root causes and deliver actionable insights to Operations and FP&A.
• Ensure accurate inventory reconciliation and monitor material allocations across equipment and projects.
• Partner with Operations to evaluate production performance, scrap, yield, and efficiency metrics, translating data into financial insights.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with detailed cost and operational analysis.
• Collaborate with FP&A and VP Finance to provide costing inputs for reporting, pricing, and margin analysis.
• Oversee material adjustments, assist with external audits, and strengthen finance‑operations alignment.
• Act as finance functional lead for ERP (Odoo), defining requirements, validating data integrity, and supporting UAT and cutover activities.
• Deliver accurate and timely reporting aligned with business needs.

Requirements

The position offers a strategic, detail‑oriented professional with deep experience in advanced manufacturing the chance to influence key decisions for an exciting start‑up. The Manager will oversee cost management for SAMI’s manufacturing facilities, manage costing and inventory processes, and provide actionable insights to support operational efficiency and margin improvement. The role also supports ERP implementation, plant operations, and strategic decision‑making in a complex manufacturing environment, with early ownership and close collaboration with management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years experience in manufacturing cost accounting, including job costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing environments with complex product lines.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical skills to provide actionable insights from complex data.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, plant leadership, and senior management.
• Sound judgment, problem‑solving ability, and comfort with ambiguity.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and collaborative work style.
• High ethical standards and personal integrity.
• Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Experience with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
• Previous experience with Odoo preferred.

Benefits

The expected base salary range is $85,000‑$130,000, with eligibility for Mattamy’s annual bonus program that can increase total compensation based on business and individual goals.
