Description

The internship provides hands‑on experience with energy modeling, daylight and carbon analysis, life‑cycle cost studies, and support for certifications such as LEED, WELL, PHIUS, and Green Globes. Interns will also engage in CFD analysis and collaborate with cross‑functional teams while respecting project budgets and client expectations.

• Support sustainable design practices across IMEG projects.
• Perform building performance analyses and energy modeling.
• Contribute to green building certification documentation and team efforts.
• Coordinate design inputs from architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, and equipment suppliers.
• Identify and assess decarbonization strategies, including solar photovoltaic calculations.
• Research and apply current code requirements (LEED, IECC, ASHRAE 90.1).
• Prepare and issue project reports.

Requirements

IMEG is seeking a Sustainability & Energy Intern for its Denver office. Over a 10‑12‑week period, the intern will work alongside engineers and consultants to integrate sustainability and energy‑efficiency measures into building projects.

Candidates must have completed at least two years toward a BS in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, and possess a strong interest in sustainability. Familiarity with building systems, green‑building certifications, and MS Office, along with clear oral and written communication skills, are required.

• Minimum two years toward a BS in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
• Prior internship experience in building design consulting (preferred).
• Working knowledge of building systems and green‑building certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.).
• Proficiency with MS Office and clear communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
