Maintenance Electrician

Description

The Maintenance Electrician position is varied, allowing you to develop supervisory experience while remaining actively involved in multi‑skilled repairs. You will be a key member of the team, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities and helping to maintain high standards of service within a healthcare environment.

• Perform planned maintenance including emergency light testing, fire alarm checks, and scheduled PPM tasks.
• Carry out reactive and remedial electrical work such as fault‑finding, lighting and power repairs, lamp replacement, and 2nd‑fix tasks (sockets, switches).
• Assist other trades and complete general building fabric repairs.
• Supervise subcontractors, conduct inductions and manage permits to work where necessary.
• Participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota to provide emergency support.
• Undertake workmanship checks and assist with health‑and‑safety audits as required.
• Manage stock of spares and consumables on site.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold electrical qualifications with 18th Edition certification (testing and inspection qualification desirable), have experience in a multi‑skilled trade role—preferably within the NHS or other commercial properties—possess a full UK driving licence, and demonstrate basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, strong people skills and great attention to detail.

• Hold electrical qualifications with 18th Edition certification (testing/inspection qualification desirable).
• Demonstrate experience in a multi‑skilled trade role, preferably within NHS or commercial property maintenance.
• Possess a full UK driving licence.
• Have basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Exhibit strong people skills, attention to detail and a desire for supervisory responsibilities.
