The Draftsman role is an entry‑level individual contributor in the Designer team, responsible for turning engineering input into high‑quality, on‑time drawings for large power‑generation equipment. It is posted for entry‑level IFPTE membership.
Core responsibilities include creating and maintaining mechanical models and drawings, generating bills of materials, and following direction from engineers and senior designers to retrieve design input, execute details per GE standards, and issue final deliverables. The role also involves helping schedule design activities, communicating issues early, applying GD&T principles, and producing detailed mark‑ups using SIM TO tools.
The Draftsman must understand part attributes, be proficient in PLM, and be able to mentor others in PLM usage. Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and GE drawing standards is required.
Basic qualifications are experience in design/drafting or component design and a technical degree or certification, or equivalent experience. Desired characteristics include mechanical design experience, familiarity with power‑generation equipment, agency codes and standards, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, self‑motivation, and a mindset focused on quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction.
Compensation for U.S. candidates is $1,445.66 weekly, with geographic differentials in certain areas. GE Vernova offers a comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, health coach, employee assistance, 401(k) with match, tuition and adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, 12 paid holidays, personal business and illness time, and two weeks of vacation.
