Preconstruction Manager

Description

• Oversee the development of detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and design documents to identify risks, opportunities, and cost impacts.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify scope and align expectations.
• Manage project pursuits from initial client discussions through final proposal submission.
• Maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and accurate scopes.
• Mentor estimating staff and contribute to continuous improvement within the preconstruction department.
• Lead preconstruction activities including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
• Guide value engineering efforts to improve project efficiency and budget alignment.

Requirements

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating efforts, guide early project strategy, and support major pursuits in the Houston market. The Preconstruction Manager will work closely with clients, design partners, and internal teams to shape successful project outcomes from concept through final pricing.

• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to present strategies and pricing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in commercial construction focused on estimating or preconstruction.
• Strong background working for a commercial general contractor.
• Proven ability to manage preconstruction efforts for ground-up and interior projects.
